Candy Cane Reindeer!

I make these candy cane reindeer every Christmas. This year Shane and I decided to make some stockings for our teams at work, and the candy cane reindeer would go in them (Along with some chocolate candies, and some cake pops that we ordered from Popalicious Creations.

So here is how you make the candy cane reindeer.

Items you will need:
- Candy Canes
- Pipe Cleaners
- Puff Balls
- Googley Eyes
- Hot Glue Gun
- Pen or Pencil
- Ribbon (Optional)
- Bells (Optional)

The Ribbon and Bells I didn't do until this year.
That was Shanes idea and it turned out awesome.
In this picture there are the little puff balls that are used for the noses, pipe cleaners, and some bells already strung with the ribbon.

First we start with the Candy Cane.

Then take a pipe cleaner and fold it in half at the top of the candy cane.

Then twist the pipe cleaner twice to secure it.

This is where you use a pen or pencil. I prefer a pen with a cap, that way you can secure the end of the pipe cleaner between the pen and cap, and twist the pipe cleaner around the pen to make a spiral.

Once you've done this with both sides, take the bell that you have strung on the ribbon and tie it where the neck would be.

Then put some hot glue on the back of the ribbon where you tied it, and on the back of the pipe cleaner to secure them in place.

Next is the eyes. You can use any size you want, and hot glue the eyes to the front.

Now the nose, hot glue the puffy nose on the tip of the candy cane.

Your reindeer is now complete. I made a large variety of these for work, and I also made one for each of us at home that went on our tree.

As you can see I used different size eyes for these.

Here they are in the stockings at work ready to be handed out. There are chocolates inside, and also snowman cake pops from Popalicious Creations that were delicious!!!.

And the recipients loved them.

Here are the ones I made for the family.

This one is Eriks Reindeer.

Averys Reindeer.

Aleezas Reindeer.

My Reindeer.

Shanes Reindeer.

They make great tree decorations too.

I hope you enjoyed the reindeer tutorial and pictures. Also, if you're interested in ordering any cake pops from Popalicious Creations, Andrea is located in Pleasanton, TX.
Tell her Tiffany sent you :)

Enjoy!

Voo Doo Crafty Doll

So here is how I made my first (and so far only) Voo Doo Doll.

I started with these supplies.
(No special craft store needed, all of this was purchased from Wal-Mart)
  • Yarn
  • Ribbon (optional)
  • Beading Wire
  • Plastic Needle
  • Liquid Stitch (Clear Drying Adhesive)
  • Mini Tools (Pliers used to bend beading wire easily)
  • (Felt in the picture but I did not use any on this doll)

This was my first time making this so I wasn't sure what I would need. I ended up only using the glue to glue on the ribbon at the end. :p

Next I got a piece of Styrofoam. I took my beading wire and using the mini pliers, bent it into a stick figure shape.
Then took 5 straight pins to pin it down to the Styrofoam.

Next I wrapped the yarn 8 times around the straight pin to form the beginning of a leg.

I did the same for the other leg and both arms. Then I tied off each end with an extra piece of yarn so that if it slipped off the pin, it wouldn't mess up.

Now this is the part that took a while. I took one of my plastic needles and threaded some yarn through it. I cut a very long piece of yarn, enough to wrap it all the way down the leg (or arm) and then back up again.
Note: Around where the hands and feet are, I wrapped the yarn into the middle of it so that way it would not take any chances of slipping right off the arms and legs.

The head wasn't so hard. I wrapped up a ball of yarn, enough to fit snugly inside the loop I made for the head. Then when I stuck it in there, I continued to wrap the rest of the yarn around the head until all that beading wire was covered up.
(They come out with incredibly large heads)

Next, I took my purple yarn and added a dress and some eyes. These don't require glue, just snugly tuck in the extra yarn into the doll once you are done and cut off the tip so there is none sticking.

Now for the hair. (Pandora likes to watch me craft) I cut some pieces of yarn all the same length. These will make her pig tails.
I will thread each piece through the plastic needle and then thread it through the dolls head.

Finally I glued on the ribbon and let it dry overnight. The total process took about 2-3 hours. But I was also making this up as I went along so I'm sure now that I know how to do it, the next one will be faster. I also suggest sitting in a comfy chair to do this, and not on the bed like I did. For the first hour and a half I was not leaning up against the wall, and my back was killing me.

And Voila, the very first hand made Voo Doo Doll.

I hope you all enjoyed!

Color Me Crazy

So this is my first blog. This is also the first time I've ever done something so colorful to my hair. I've dyed my hair before plenty of times. But this is the first for what I did this time. I bleached my hair and then dyed it 4 different colors. So here's how the adventure began...

Day 1: Bleaching

This is the color of my hair before I started.

I started with the Manic Panic Flash Lightning Volume 30. This worked awesome on my roots, but not so awesome everywhere else. I mistakenly listened to the package and did not use all the developer cream since it said it was not always needed. I mixed til it was smooth and creamy. That was a mistake. I ran very short on this stuff when I got to the end of my hair. Shane was a great sport about it and helped me out with the back of my hair since I couldn't see what I was doing. This is how it turned out.

My roots looked great, and the rest of it was still brown/orange.
So this is when we made a run to the store at midnight with my hair looking like this to my more bleach stuff. I knew Wal-Mart didn't have Manic Panic so I was going to get whatever they had. Turns out they had no bleach kits. The closest thing to it was a dye that said "Bleach Blonde Hair" So that's the one I got.

It turned out a lot better. My roots were still lighter than the rest of my hair, but this will still work. Shane helped me do this. I'm so glad he did, It would have come out so bad if I had done it by myself.

So that was the end of day one, I let my hair dry and went to sleep.
